UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS in NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP GOLF TOURNAMENT

The La Costa Golf Course in Carlsbad is the site of the NCAA Men's Golf Championship.  The tournament began on May 24.  After 3 days of play our Illini are in 1st place, the only team under par, and 6 strokes better than 2nd place Virginia.

The Illini won the won the Stanford Regional by an amazing score of 36 under Par, 8 strokes ahead of 2nd place and top-seeded Florida State.  Freshman Max Herendeen won the individual title finishing 13 strokes under par.  Two additional Illini, Tyler Goecke and Ryan Voois, finished tied for 5th and 10th, respectively in the field of 75 golfers.

On Monday the Illini tee time is 12:35pm at hole #1. Watch the Illini battle for a National Championship right here in our back yard.  They are playing amazing golf!
 

Here is what you need to know to see the Men’s D1 Tourney.  Tickets to watch the play are $8/day and are available in advance at  Men's Golf Tickets | NCAATickets.com  Free parking and free shuttle service is available from the Carlsbad Public Library - 1775 Dove Ln, Carlsbad, CA 92011 (1 mile from La Costa) from 9am-7pm.  An additional free shuttle is available to hole #10.

After Monday's round, the top eight teams will play a match play elimination on Tuesday, with the final for the NCAA Championship on Wednesday.
